Meet the team
Barry Johnson
CEO
Barry founded EPIC Insurance Services in 2009 and oversees its life, personal accident and medical insurance business. His career began in 1970 with Lloyd’s broking firm Bevington, Vaizey and Foster Ltd. Since then, his experience has spanned treaty and facultative reinsurance across markets worldwide.
Outside work, Barry supports West Ham United and enjoys summers in Cornwall with his family.
Patrick Denis
Head Consultant
Patrick oversees EPIC’s aviation, marine and construction insurance business, drawing on 45 years of experience as an underwriter and broker.
He ran his own Lloyd’s syndicate for several years. Patrick holds a degree in business studies.
Samuel Johnson
Broker
Samuel joined EPIC in 2019, having begun his career in medical insurance in 2018. He holds a politics degree from the University of East Anglia and manages a diverse portfolio across South Asia, the Middle East and North Africa.
Outside work, Samuel is a keen sportsman and has competed nationally in the 400 metres.
Jonathan Sprules
Head of Compliance
Jonathan is an insurance compliance specialist who has worked in the industry since 1984. His experience includes insurance management for a FTSE 100 company and the run-off of Lloyd’s syndicates. He holds the ICA Diploma in Regulatory Compliance.
Outside work, Jonathan enjoys playing sport, particularly rugby.
Chris Percival
Head of A&H
Chris has been in Financial Services for over 30 years with both Banking and Insurance experience in the City. He has many years specialist knowledge in the domestic and International Life and International Private Medical Insurance (IPMI) space. He was resident in the UAE for 10 years managing the Middle East and Asia desk for HealthCare International and sister IFA business as a Founder Executive and part of the C-Suite with responsibilities including regulated sales, insurance mediation, marketing and compliance prior to retiring from the group following a recent management buyout and PE exit.
In his spare time he enjoys reading, professional development and travelling. Chris is a keen Crystal Palace fan.
